The Steel + Steel HC

Electrical Connection:

Our trailers have a 7-way pin connection. If your vehicle only has a 4-way pin connection, you will need a 4-way to 7-way adapter. Note that this will operate the trailer turn signals and brake lights only and will not operate trailer brakes or charge the trailer’s battery.

If you choose the trailer brake add-on, you must have a 7-way blade connection on your towing vehicle, as well as a brake controller.

*Note: We do not install 7-way connectors or brake controllers on towing vehicles; please come with these already installed and tested!

Hitch Requirements:

Hitch Size: You will need either a Class 2 hitch or higher to tow the Steel/Steel HC. The hitch ball must be 2”; make sure that the hitch you purchase has the same dimensions as your towing vehicle’s receiver (for example, Class 2 is 1 ¼”, Class 3 is 2”).

Hitch Height: The drop or rise height of the ball hitch mount will depend on your towing vehicle and the trailer you purchase. The height of the hitch needs to be 17”-19” from the ground to the top of the ball for The Steel and 18″-20” for The Steel HC.

Lock n’ Roll: If you choose the Lock n’ Roll hitch option, we will provide both the trailer and towing vehicle side.  We will need you to measure the height of your towing vehicle’s hitch, starting from the ground to the top of the inside of your receiver, along with the width of your vehicle’s receiver (1 1/4” or 2”).
