FAQ

DIMENSIONS

The overall length, including the tongue, is approx 14 feet. The body of the trailer itself is 10 feet long by 6 feet wide. The width is approximately 80” with the wheels and fenders.

For the standard Steel:

67” to the top of the standard roof vent.

With a roof rack, 72”.

With a FreeSpirit awning, 77”.

For the Steel HC:

69” to the top of the standard roof vent.

With a roof rack, 74”

With a FreeSpirit awning, 79”.

Note that the suspension will settle about another inch over time.

The regular Steel is 10” to the lowest point (the spare tire). The HC is 14.25″ to the lowest point (crossbar). This will change depending on the options and how the trailer is loaded. Particularly, if an option like the water storage tank is added!

The internal height of the cabin is 43.5″ tall at the highest point.

The floor dimensions are 54”x80”.

The bunk bed is approximately 26″ by 58.5″, and it can hold 100 pounds.

The mattress is 80”x54”, the same length as a queen mattress but closer to the width of a full (53”).  We recommend queen size bedding.

The distance from the front wall of the trailer to the shelf under the cabinet is just shy of 5’9″.

There is just under 2’ of space for your legs between the mattress and the cabinet when you’re lying down.

The regular Steel is approximately 11-12 inches to the lowest point depending on how it is loaded and the HC is approximately 13-15 inches to the lowest point depending on options and how it’s loaded. Clearance: The HC is about 16″ with the standard at 12″.

The folded mattress is about 8-10″ and that leaves 70″+ of head space.

TRAILER CONSTRUCTION

The ceiling is insulated (R9), the walls and floor are not insulated but have 18 millimeter solid wood composite; this works well for temperature changes.

OPTIONS AND STANDARD FEATURES

The list of standard trailer features can be found here!

The highway model includes a donut spare under the body of the trailer. The HC does not include a spare but has an option for a side-mounted spare.

Make sure that you have a 7-way connector or a 7-way to 4-way adapter.

The bolt pattern is 5×4.5”

COST AND FINANCING

There is no sales tax in Oregon. However, many states charge sales tax upon title and registration and some banks require that the tax be collected by us in order to fund the purchase.

While we aren’t able to finance your trailer, we do partner with some banks and credit unions that our previous customers have recommended. Check them out on our financing page!

ORDERING AND BUILD PROCESS

Although we no longer rent our teardrops ourselves, we have partners who do! Check out our rental page for those options.

Absolutely, we love to share the process. You will be getting the link when we start the build!

It takes 5-7 business days once we get to your place in the queue!

It is $1-1.50 per mile depending on the location.

Yes, we’ll send you this form to fill out once you’ve placed your deposit.

The trailer name can be no longer than 12 characters.

33% down. 33% percent midway through, and the final 33% upon completion.

We recommend paying by ACH, which you’ll see the option for on your invoice. It’s free and practically instantaneous. You can also pay by check, cash, or by credit or debit card (with a 3% processing fee).

OWNING AN AERO TRAILER

A 30 amp shore power inlet is standard, and we provide a 30 amp to 15 amp pigtail adapter which can be hooked up to a 12 gauge extension cord so that you can plug into normal outlets with your trailer. This will charge the trailer battery. In addition, we use a 7-way connector that connects to your car (if your car has a 7-way connector as well) and will charge your trailer battery when the car is running. If you have a solar power system, this will also charge your battery when there’s enough sun.

Note that when your trailer is not plugged into shore power and is only running off its battery (even if it’s being charged by solar or your car), you will not be able to use the normal 120v outlets that are included in our trailers. You will however be able to use the USB ports and any 12v appliances.

Is your tow vehicle not charging your trailer? Check the 30 amp fuse under the lid of the battery box.

This is a deep existential question that unfortunately we don’t have the answer to and have not been able to find a replacement to fix the problem. We have had customers use black sharpe or nail polish to block the light.
