4. Cains Coulee, Makoshika State Park
The Makoshika State Park is Montana’s largest and home to the remains of a Tyrannosaurus Rex and Triceratops. It is also an ancient land which is translated as ‘badland’ by the Lakota Indians.
These badland rock formations contain many geological and prehistoric stories which are amazing to explore.
There are also plenty of roads and trails which allow you discover this mystical badland landscape at your leisure. The canyon is divided into two sections, with the lower section of Cains Coulee housing the main campground.

Set upon the water’s edge of Fort Peck Lake, Hell Creek Campground is ideal if you are a fishing, boating or watersports lover.
