How to Camp With a Teardrop Trailer

Sometimes you want to enjoy nature, but don’t want the hassle of setting up a tent and the accompanying camp.

If you’re a camping enthusiast, you owe it to yourself and your family to invest in a teardrop camper. They’re small, affordable, and allow you to bring the best of the modern world to the wilderness.

Once you’ve selected the perfect teardrop camper, you’re almost ready to hit the road and enjoy the great outdoors!

Before you head out, make sure you read up on some quick and easy tips for camping with a teardrop trailer.

Give Your Teardrop Trailer a Quick Check

We know that you’re eager to explore the wilderness and get away from the modern world, but we also want you to be safe.

Before you leave, do a quick check to make sure your teardrop trailer is ready to go.

You’ll need to ensure that your trailer is hitched to your vehicle securely. Teardrops cost a pretty penny, and we hate hearing stories of accidental damage.

Next, inspect each of your tires to make sure they’re properly inflated. Like with your car, under-inflated tires can be a dangerous and unnecessary risk. Be sure to consult the owner’s manual to find the proper PSI. You will also want to make sure the lug nuts on your wheels are torqued to the manufacturer’s specs.

Third, double-check that all of the appropriate lights are functioning. This includes brake lights. While they’re cheap and easy to replace, you don’t want any inconveniences.

Finally, be sure you’ve packed all the necessary camping equipment. We’ll get into the fun stuff (i.e. snacks) in a bit, but here’s a list of things your teardrop should include.

  • Chairs
  • Lantern
  • Flashlight
  • First-aid kit
  • Sunscreen

Bring Comfortable Bedding

One of the main reasons we love our teardrop trailers is that they’re comfortable. Why sleep on the cold, hard ground when you can get a restful evening’s rest on an actual mattress?

The vast majority of teardrop campers include a stock mattress, but you’ll want to bring some of your own supplies to ensure maximum comfort.

Pack a foam mattress pad if you prefer a softer sleeping environment. Sometimes the stock mattress can be a little stiff, so be aware.

Bring the appropriate bedding such as sheets, comforters, and pillows, as well. Whoever said camping can’t be luxurious never spent the evening in a camper.

Don’t Forget the Food

You’ll want to take advantage of the included kitchenette. After all, half the fun of camping is enjoying camping cuisine!

Since you’ll have some space and a stove at your disposal, put some creative spins on the camping classics. Nothing is more satisfying after a long day of camping than a hearty bowl of chili.

The protein is great for your body, and the warmth is great for your soul. If you need help finding a good recipe, here’s one of our favorites.

Of course, you may want to stick to the traditional fare. Nothing quite beats a fire-roasted hot dog. And who can forget about dessert?

No camping trip is complete without at least one evening of s’more making! Bring along some graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate bars.

All you have to do is make the smores and make the memories.

Hit the Road

With a teardrop trailer, camping can be every bit as relaxing as an evening in. If you’d like to procure one of your own, contact us today! We’d love to help you customize your very own camper.

Some citronella candles to help with bugs and tarp or shelter in case of rain can come in handy too!
